Frogs' holes and Siemianowice
In the morning I took Marion and Bruno to park in
Siemianowice and when in the afternoon I had a chance for a longer ride I planned
to make it my destination (of course, not taking the straightest way). However, at a point I was stopped by an idle
cargo train so I went to Zabie Doly (where I didn’t manage to get on Tuesday).
There, I toured this area a bit and then, almost in the dark, I eventually
headed to Siemianowice.

In the park
Taking advantage of a day-off I went for a ride planning to go to Zabie Doly (Frogs’ holes) area in Bytom, but eventually I changed my mind and opted to stay only within the park. First I just strolled through the flat alleys but then I wanted to climb a little bit and I rode on the steeps paths in the forest part. I also experimented a little with recording movies with a camera attached to the handlebar. It was just a first attempt, so don’t laugh of it too much.

Saturday shift
I had a weekend shift today but taking advantage of beautiful weather I rode there by bike, taking a bit prolonged route, passing the Gwiazdy (Stars) district of Star-shaped skyscrapers and then the Three Ponds and Muchowiec areas. When I was going back at was dark, but my news lights set (gift from Michal) worked magnificently.

I declare open the 2012 season
Without much prior planning, I started the riding season today. I was going to have a small roller skating session, but having discovered that my dad in law has my old bike almost ready to use, I couldn't master the temptation. I did a ride through the Kochlowice forest. It looked very nice in the offspring attire, with much light entering through still leafless trees and offered not only protection from the windy, while sunny, conditions but also had a lot of other attractions, like overcoming the mud, up to bike walking at spots, riding off-path or getting through partly frozen, partly submerged trail, a few paths I hadn't known and some really demanding ascents.

Welcome to my new blog!
I decided to move my blog - bikekatowice.wordpress.com to blogspot.com as I hope this platform will enable me to keep my digital diary much more up to date than I managed last year. Wordpress was excellent with its numerous options, but for me it also has some weak points, like, for example, the fact that it is not too easy to insert a picasa slideshow there (this feature is very important for me). For now, with my spare time limited (so I prefer to spend it riding, not writing about it) I would like to keep my blog simple, with each post roughly following such a pattern: a few words up to a few sentences about the place I rode in, 1 or a few pictures, slideshow, a map, sometimes a Google Earth model and occasionally a short movie.
Below I put some initial posts, some of them are outstanding ones from last season, as keeping the blog up to date was quite an issue for me last year, and some about what already happened this year.
I hope you’ll like the incarnation of my blog :) Also, any new comments about the new idea, layout etc. will be most welcome.
